Tutor BIO
Welcome to my profile! My name’s Jessica, and I’ve been teaching English as a foreign language for over fifteen years. I specialize in coaching and supporting students to speak confidently at work. Progress from an intermediate level to advanced (CEFR C1) to attain greater success in your presentations, meetings, and interviews.
I also teach professional and academic writing and am an experienced editor and proofreader. If you’re writing your master’s or doctoral thesis, I can give you valuable guidance to bring your writing to a high standard. Website content and professional profiles, cover letters, university entrance essays, and project proposals are also welcome for personalized feedback.
Brushing up on general conversation skills is also welcome. Learn idioms and informal spoken expressions to sound more natural in English. I’m sure we can find many subjects to talk about: I enjoy hiking and swimming, and read widely in both English and French.
My current focus is coaching new immigrants to Canada to speak confidently at work and in life. I have taught writing for both professional and academic contexts, and work as a professional proofreader. My first experience as a TEFL teacher was in Japan, and I still love to travel. I obtained my TEFL certification from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto in 2018.
Our first session will be a conversation about your interests, with the opportunity for you to ask questions about my teaching. I’d like to know what learning methods have worked for you in the past, and what works for you now. From our discussion, I’ll create a learning plan for you to achieve your goals. Let’s begin: book a lesson with me today.
